Eugene River District Development Study

Rowell Brokaw Architects was selected as the Master Architect by a development team led by The University of Oregon Foundation to redevelop Eugene's downtown riverfront. At the time the 27-acre property was owned the Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB) but now it’s owned by the City of Eugene. For most of the 20th century the site was used for industrial purposes.

Working with the UO Foundation development team, Rowell Brokaw proposed a full redevelopment plan, conducted due diligence and participated in negotiations with EWEB and the City of Eugene for the property's purchase. Due to various circumstances and discoveries, The Foundation decided not to pursue the development after a year of design, planning, and investigation.

Rowell Brokaw Architects has been working to support the successful transformation of this property into a vibrant, mixed-use river district since leading the EWEB Riverfront Master Plan in 2009. Currently Rowell Brokaw is a part of the development team and the architect for the proposed Steam Plant Renovation.
