Materials Resource Library
University of Oregon Department of Architecture
Housing over 3,000 catalogues and product samples, the facility is one of two such resource centers among west coast architecture schools. The digital images were created to promote the project for fund raising and for material and product donations. Most of the facility was built with donated labor and materials.
The library is designed to be a simple open room with a strong visual presence on the fourth floor of Lawrence Hall. A custom designed steel and engineered-ply shelf system creates an elegant framework for the catalogs and other resources. A continuous deep shelf supports a rolling library ladder and provides a place for model display. The careful choice of materials, the custom fabricated furniture systems and high quality lighting demonstrate inventive elegance.
